1 .Whatever you do,

2 .don't join a gym unless you're sure you'll make good use of it.

3 .So many people waste lots of money by signing up for membership and then hardly ever go.

很多人签了会员,但是很少去,所以就浪费了很多钱。

4 .What happens to their good intentions?

5 .I don't think people suddenly stop caring about improving their fitness,

我觉得并不是人们突然不在乎提升身体健康了,

6 .or decide they have more important things to do.

或者是决定他们有更重要的事情去做。

7 .I think people lose interest when they don't think they're making enough progress.

我觉得是因为当人们觉得他们进步不大的时候,他们就会失去兴趣。

8 .That's when they give up hope and stop believing they'll ever achieve their goals.

那时,他们放弃了希望,不再相信自己能实现自己的目标。

9 .Also, what people sometimes don't realise when they start is that it takes a lot of determination and hard work to keep training week after week

而且,人们有时在开始的时候并没有意识到,坚持一周又一周的训练需要很大的决心和努力

10 .and lots of people don't have that kind of commitment.

很多人没有那种决心。

第二段

1 .One thing you can do to help yourself is to set manageable goals

你可以做的一件事是帮助自己设定可管理的目标

2 .- be realistic and don't push yourself too far.

——现实点,不要逼自己太紧。

3 .Some people advise writing goals down,

有些人建议写下目标,

4 .but I think it's better to have a flexible approach.

但是我觉得方法灵活一点会更好。

5 .Give yourself a really nice treat every time you reach one of your goals.

每次当你达到一个目标时,好好款待一下自己。

6 .And don't get too upset if you experience setbacks

如果你遇到挫折,不要太沮丧

7 .- it's a journey - there are bound to be difficulties along the way.
